Freedom, Democracy & the Presidency with Jeffrey Engel, Sheldon Theater
Jeffrey A. Engel, Director of the Center for Presidential History at Southern Methodist University, comes April 8, 2026 to Red Wing’s Sheldon Theatre as part of the Philip S. Duff Jr. Civic Lecture Series. Minnesota Public Radio journalist Kerri Miller will moderate the event. She and Engel will converse on the Sheldon stage, followed by audience engagement. Goodhue County DFL Convention
The Goodhue Co. DFL convention will be held March 7th 9am-12pm at Goodhue High School. This convention is where delegates will elect local party leadership and select delegates to attend the 1st Congressional District Convention and the State Convention to decide party platform and endorse candidates. The call to order (official business) will be at 9:30am.
You must have attended precinct caucuses February 3rd to attend the Convention as a delegate.
Caucus Information and Convener Training
Precinct Caucuses are Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026. Caucuses are the bedrock of American democracy. This is where you meet with your neighbors (your precinct) to propose policy resolutions and elect delegates to the county political convention. If you would like more information on how this works, how to write a resolution, or learn how to help convene and run the caucus, this is the event for you.
Peter Haug will present information about how DFL caucuses operate in Goodhue County. The location is not confirmed, but likely will be in the Foot Room at the Red Wing library.
Rally for Democracy
Whether you protest on Main Street or in your living room, you are invited to an informal gathering for chili and conversation on Friday, January 16th , from 5:00 to 6:30, in the fellowship hall of United Lutheran Church, 628 West 5th St.* Both Representative Brad Finstad and Congressional Candidate Jake Johnson have been invited; Johnson has responded that he will be there to visit with people and to answer questions about our concerns that democracy as we know it is at risk.
