Participating in a Precinct Caucus

A caucus is a gathering of neighbors to discuss issues and organize the local DFL party unit. All parties have their caucuses on the same night, and the next statewide precinct caucus date is February 3, 2026. One of the important tasks that each caucus meeting will be considering resolutions to update our party platform. If there is an issue you are passionate about you can propose items for inclusion in the platform. An easy way to do that is to fill out this resolution form and bring it on Caucus Night. (There will also be blank forms available at the caucus).

In order to best serve the residents of Goodhue County multiple sites will be utilized.

  • District 19A - Kenyon-Wanamingo High School (Kenyon)

  • District 20A - Cannon Falls Elementary, Goodhue High School, and Twin Bluff Middle School (Red Wing)

  • District 20B - Zumbrota-Mazeppa High School (Zumbrota)

  • District 58 - Cannon Falls Elementary

This is a change for the Lake City and Frontenac precincts, as they will now caucus in Red Wing at the Middle School. Doors open at 6:30pm, Precinct Caucuses start at 7:00pm.

If you are not sure which district you live in or uncertain which location you should go to, you can use the Minnesota Secretary of State Precinct Caucus Finder tool to find the answers (https://caucusfinder.sos.mn.gov/ )

Who Can Attend Caucus?

There is a lot going on in the State right now, and going to your Precinct Caucus is a way to find others with your same hopes and concerns, and also a way to begin your entry into being part of the change you want to see! You will get to meet fellow DFLers in your neighborhood, learn about candidates, and connect you to your local DFL organizing unit so you can participate in the 2026 elections!

Know your rights: Minnesota Statutes Section 202A.19 permits Minnesota residents to take time off from work without pay to attend precinct caucuses, provided they give their employer written notice at least 10 days in advance. State universities, community colleges, and public schools may not hold classes or events after 6:00 p.m. on the evening of precinct caucuses. State agencies, school boards, county boards, township boards, city councils, and all other political subdivisions may not conduct meetings after 6:00 p.m. on caucus night.
